SHARKHUNTERS International
Berlin Patrol 2012

We did a lot - saw a lot, went many places...........and walked from 5 to 10 kilometers each day.  Join us on these pages and hopefully next year, you will join us in person in 2013.  As we said - some of these places will be dropped from our 2013 Berlin Patrol for obvious reasons.

We packed a lot into our first day - Saturday 1 September.  You will see some photos of upscale shops and we did this to show the wives that we do much more on our 'Patrols' than just dig around in old bunkers, submarines and historical sites.

There is a lot for the wives to do on our 'Patrols' as you will see.

Sunday 2 September..........a bunker that calls us to explore.  What is beyond this door?  Not only a bunker, but much more in Berlin just waiting for the Sharkhunters.

Monday 3 September........the "Love Nest" of Dr. Josef Goebbels; the sunken barracks of the Soviet Kampfgrüppe; the man-made lakes on the property of the headquarters of Großadmiral Karl Dönitz; the above-ground bunker compound of the Kriegsmarine Headquarters; the deep underground bunker for Dönitz; and the house in which he lived.

What is beyond this gate with that nasty sign that says "Eingang Verboten"?  As we know, that translates to "Sharkhunters are Welcome Here!".  Walk through this gate with us and see history not available to others.

Tuesday 4 September - who lived in this house?  It is on the Stutzpunkt (the base) of the 5th Panzerkorps.  Maybe that will help you guess.

Today we tour the headquarters of the 5th Panzerkorps; the headquarters of the OKW, the Military High Command - we see their hardened bunkers above ground and we are deep underground in their security bunker.  It was in one of these houses that the plans were laid for Operation VALKYRIE - the assassination of Adolf Hitler in the Wolfsschanze.

Wednesday 5 September - The Führerbunker, Police Headquarters, the place of execution for von Stuaffenberg and several conspirators at the top of Operation Valkyrie and much more.

Thursday 6 September - Back into Berlin.....to the remaining section of the Berlin Wall then to the Olympic Stadium and eventually to the Olympic Village

This was incredible history and we traveled in the tunnels of time!

Friday 7 September - we are in the devastated town of Küstrin on the banks of the Oder River.  One of the most fierce artillery and armor battles in history took place here in the closing weeks of World War Two.  It was in this historic town that Friederich the Great, when just a young prince, was to be beheaded.
