General Cardenas was a busy test pilot in the USAAF and later in the United States Air Force. He test flew the jet powered flying wing YB-49 bomber coast to coast and he also flew the B-29 bombers that took Chuck Yeager and his rocket-powered planes high in the sky, but he most liked test flying the German Arado Ar 234.
