This is the story of the B-29 known as the ROVER BOYS EXPRESS, told by the Navigator, Lt. ‘Hap‘ Halloran. They were shot down over Japan and Hap was taken prisoner. He talks about the bombing strategy and operations, but he also speaks in depth about the experiences in the P.o.W. camp. It was brutal, but he met and became friends with the most famous prisoner in the camp, Marine Corps Major Greg ‘Pappy’ Boyington.
He saw Boyington’s gaunt wasted shell of himself and hoped that he would not look like that. Very quickly – he did.
What was life like in a Japanese P.O.W. camp? This DVD will open your eyes. The Japanese jailors/guards were very brutal…..beatings, their only drinking water was that was used to wash the dishes first.
There are things in this DVD that are not on any other DVDs.
