1939 through 1945

The DVD begins with the
1939 hero parade for Günther Prien and the crew of U-47 as they
return to Berlin after sinking the Royal Navy battleship HMS ROYAL OAK in
Scapa Flow end of October. The FW 200 lands at the Berlin Airport and
Prien gets into an open Mercedes touring car while his officers and crew get
into other cars behind his lead car. They drive (in a light drizzle)
through the streets to the Chancellery where Hitler himself is waiting to greet
them. He personally gives Prien his Knights
Cross - Prien makes a little speech, then smiles at the camera.
Then there is a funeral parade and Hitler is in München consoling a mother who
has lost her son in battle.
In Rome, Hitler and his entourage are on hand for a huge parade for Mussolini in
the Eternal City. We see the finest German regiments in the parade
as Mussolini, Hitler, Raeder, Göring, Himmler and others watch.
There are victory parades in Oslo (Norway) and in Holland.
Mussolini arrives by train in München - Hitler, Göring, Goebbels and others
greet him, then they get into open Mercedes touring cars for the parade through
the city.
We see the victory parade in Paris past the Arc d' Triumph! There is the
French surrender ceremony in the very same railroad car in which Germany was
forced to surrender at the end of World War I. The entire ceremony is on
the tape.
In Saarbrücken, we watch massive parades of Hitler Jugend and Arbeitsdienst.
In a special military parade for Mussolini on another visit, we see mechanized
infantry, light armor, heavy armor, cavalry, armored motorcycles, artillery as
air power roars overhead. It is impressive!
There is even a parade honoring the King of Bulgaria!
This DVD shows the still staunch and fierce pride of Germany even as the tide
of war turns, even to the point of impending defeat - the people maintain their
loyalty and pride.
