We went back to Germany in 2000 and shot more interviews with veterans of the U-boat wars.  Helmut Schmoeckel was Skipper of U-802 and he wrote an outstanding book entitled Humanity on the High Seas.  Although not one of the better known Skippers, he did his share of war patrols, took his lumps from the depth charges rained down from destroyers above, he sank some ships and he brought his boat and his men home alive.

This is a look at the ordinary Skipper, boat and crew in a extraordinary, tough & dangerous war.  There are things in this DVD that are not on any other DVDs.
