Kriegsmarine U-Bootwaffe. He was commander of U-1202 and was decorated with the Knights Cross and Oak Leaf. Only 145 U-Bootfahrer were decorated with the Knights Cross and only 28 U-Boat Skippers were decorated with the Oak Leaf. He was awarded his Oak Leaf about ten days before the German surrender and the anguish can be seen in his face. This was the last Oak Leaf awarded to anyone in the U-Bootwaffe in World War Two. He retired the Bundsmarine at the rank of Konteradmiral and for personal reasons, did not autograph anything for anyone else – only for Sharkhunters. He died less than one month after signing these 100 photos.
