A WW II veteran tells us – I have lived in some of these diesel boats; experienced the foul air so bad you couldn’t light a match (yes, they allowed smoking then).  I have experienced heat in excess of 100º for days on end, weather so bad that everything was wet and moldy.  Food cannot be prepared so if you’re not seasick, all there is to eat is baloney and cheese (horse cock and choke ass).  It takes a special kind of man to endure this environment.
