In the middle 1930’s, they had the hottest planes, the most advanced technology and the best, most fearless fighter pilots.  For a time, they were unbeatable.  As the tide of battle slowly turned, after the Battle of Britain, they continued to fight doggedly and bravely but in the end, to no avail.  All was lost except honor.
These were the “Golden Knights” of the skies in World War Two.  They slipped the chains of gravity and soared high above the earth on their wings of steel.  Some returned covered in glory – many did not return at all.  This book contains first person memories of Luftwaffe pilots, American pilots, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy pilots – fliers of many nations are included here as well as some technical insights to the planes, the powerplants and the weaponry carried.
